The roster is out for Round 2 of the Australian Baseball League for the Alcohol. Think Again Perth Heat. The major changes are the addition of Tim Kennelly and Ulrich Bojarski to the potential lineup card. Adam Millson will go to the pen in place of Scott Mitchinson but for the most part the team is pretty set. The team has also gone to the State League and grabbed lefty Bo Hellquist to go in place of Dylan Thompson. Hellquist was a teammate of Thompson at Sioux Falls last season so the team should be in good shape with an experience “indy” ball arm. The roster does get deeper with “TK” and “Bojo” in the mix and one through nine the Heat will be loaded.
It is a pleasant problem for Manager Andy Kyle as we mentioned on the Talking Baseball podcast this week. The team is deep and there a good chance a bat that might usually be in the #4 #5 or #6 spots might be in the #8 or #9 spots. A wise baseball manager once told me “the players make the lineup card after opening day.” In reality that is the case but we might have to add except in this case. This might be the real opening day. All the Manager has to do is plug them in or so the thinking was with the quote. It may be making things a little too simple but that really is the way the game goes. If you hit and produce you are rewarded accordingly.
See you on the air Friday night!
