PERTH – In the final Double Dip of the season and on TEAM Spencer night it wasn’t the Heat’s night as the Melbourne Aces took a pair of ballgames with them into the West Coast night taking game 1 with a final score of 7-1 and game 2 with a final score 2-1.

Game 1 saw the Heat strike first and jump out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Heat Starting pitcher, Tom Bailey was dialled in early but a costly error by John Riley with a dropped catch in foul territory, seemed to shift momentum away from the Heat and directly to the Aces and our old mate, Virgil Vasquez.
Vasquez was dialled in after making light work of the Heat bats, while the Aces feast on the Heat pitching. Heat pitching looked like this:
|Tom Bailey (L, 1-6)||4.0||5||4||1||3||6||1||4.97|
Game 2 was a gem and a hard luck loss for starter, Mike Lee who didn’t get the offence support required to help get the W. Lee pitched 7 2/3 innings and was in line for the win, before turning inherited runners on 1st and 2nd over to Justin D’Allesandro, which allowed 2 runs to score and ultimately won the game.
Derek Peterson extended his hit streak to 25 games, the longest in ABL history.
